Your 10-Step Guide to building your Content Strategy

Craft business owners: Discover a 10-step guide to revitalizing your content strategy and setting powerful goals for a successful year ahead. Reset, refocus, and re-energize your passion project.

Everyone feels like a change in January. It’s a natural phenomenon and it’s no different for a small business owner. After what is usually a very busy season running up to the holidays, January is a time to rethink, restock, and get reenergized for another fabulous year in business.

As an Editor and Publisher within the craft media industry, January was always an important time of year. I was excited about going back to work after the holidays. I wanted to catch up with colleagues on how much turkey they’d eaten and what plans they had for the New Year. However, when you run a small business, it’s less likely that you’ll have the luxury of a long holiday, but, it’s still important that you take time out to chill and catch up with family. Your passion project will still be there when you return.

So, what’s your New Year’s resolution for this year?

January has always been seen as an opportunity to give something up as a New Year’s resolution. I’m a positive person, so it won’t surprise you to hear that I don’t do that. I always like to start something new. Last year I had just launched my new jewelry business, Silver Nutshell Jewelry. The year before I joined a pottery course. This year I’ve signed up for a Business Management Course. I want to fast-track my business.

What are you planning to start this year that will elevate your business? Most businesses have a quieter time in January, making it the ideal time to pause and brainstorm new ideas since living day to day with a small business doesn’t leave much time to plan for the future. What would you say if I told you that you could make more money and save yourself time? I’m sure you’d be curious, at the very least.

Everyone will tell you that your small business needs a content strategy, oh yes! Are you the kind of person that never seems to find the time to do this? I know I was that person. As artisan entrepreneurs, we’re often more interested in making our creations and not always the best content planners. So, here’s my 10 Step Guide to building your Content Strategy.
