The Book Club Recommendation: The E-Myth

Learn more about the book we are recommending this month!

Small business consultant and author Michael E. Gerber, with sharp insight gained from years of experience, points out how common assumptions, expectations, and even technical expertise can get in the way of running a successful business.”

The E-Myth ties into the last book I recommended: Rocket Fuel. It discusses the actual system that needs to be built for your business and the difference between working for your business and working on your business.

I absolutely love how this book starts out because the author begins by interviewing a small bakery owner and discussing all of her pain-points with the business. And let me tell ya, I could relate to so many of the things she brought up! Most business books tend to refer to multi-million dollar corporations for examples, and this one does as well, but Michael’s main focus is on helping the small business owner understand what tweaks they need to make on their business in order to get past stagnant stages and create a system that you can duplicate. Even if you don’t want to duplicate your business, that system is what keeps it going while you work on other creative things (like what’s discussed in Rocket Fuel).
