Micro-influencer marketing - A billion dollar trend you can't ignore

Facebook, since its launch in 2004, has not only redefined the way we communicate, it has also fundamentally transformed sales and marketing. Compared to the fresh and innovative dynamics of the social media world, traditional advertising methods (i.e., tv, print, and radio) are losing their relevance. According to Nielsen’s 2015 study on global trust in advertising, which surveyed 30,000 online respondents in 60 countries, only approximately 53 percent of North Americans and Europeans trust traditional advertising formats. In contrast, recommendations from friends and family prove to be the most credible advertising source with more than 8-in-10 global respondents saying they trust recommendations and tips from the people they know.
