How I made $32,709 from Etsy Promoted Listings in one year

Discover how one Etsy seller leveraged promoted listings to generate $32,709 in revenue and transform a side hustle into a thriving children's clothing business.

Hi! I’m Bayne, owner of Soda City Sewing! We make personalized children’s clothes for special occasions. I started my children’s clothing business before even having children (in part, I chose children’s clothing because it didn’t require as much fabric).

I began listing items on Etsy while trying to get pregnant with our first child in 2012. My job of 10 years in fundraising was challenging and rewarding, but it included nights, weekends and long hours. It didn’t seem conducive to parenthood, so I was looking for a way to transition to a more flexible career. I had no idea what I was doing on Etsy at first, but once I figured out keywords, took better photos and got better equipment, things started to work. Thanks to my business, I was able to quit my full-time job at the same time that my first son was born in late 2014. The business has been through many, many changes in 6 years! I’ve gone from being a one-woman show to hiring independent contractors, nannies and assistants to help me sew outfits, cut fabric and help care for my children.
