HARO is back and under new ownership

Are you familiar with the service Help a Reporter Out? This well known organization helped journalists find sources for free. It was shut down by its owner Cision on December 9th, 2024. Let’s rewind a little to what happened with HARO. HARO was originally converted to another platform called Connectively last year. A series of challenges with the tech and quality of pitches resulted in lower engagement from journalists. It was also frustrating for companies trying to pitch.

For Handmade Seller, I also found HARO to be old outdated tech, and much preferred newer tools like Qwoted. I also like SourceBottle for Australia, New Zealand, and a smattering of international queries.

It was sad to hear HARO closed down, but not all that surprising given my own experiences.
