Do you know the feeling you get when you're talking to someone and you just know that they’re not listening? It’s like they’re looking right through you and you wonder what on earth is going on inside their head.
I was that person for a long time. My friends used to joke around and say, “Samantha, where are you?” when I stopped contributing to conversations and zoned out.
So where was I all those times? I was in my head, thinking about what I was going to make for dinner or reciting all the things I had to do that night.
A few years ago I put all of my anxiety to the side and stepped into a yoga class for the first time since college. It was a beginners class, but still, my heart was racing. As my eyes were closed, the teacher said something that I will never forget.
“Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment.”
