Etsy’s financial results for 2024 reveal mixed results

What did the end of 2024 bring for Etsy?

Etsy operates three different marketplaces: Etsy, Depop, and Reverb. More time was spent on this call discussing Depop and Reverb than had been on previous calls. For the purposes of this article, I won’t be covering Depop or Reverb, instead, I’ll exclusively focus on Etsy.

First, I will get into a recap of their financial results.  I will cover their revenue results and decline in active buyers and sellers. I will also share updates on their gifting programs, and Etsy app design changes.

Next, I will discuss what I think is coming next. This will help you can consider your strategy if you are a seller on the platform.

The goal of these articles is to describe what Etsy is sharing with their investors to help you be more educated as a seller on their platform. What is shared with investors is a key indicator as to their strategy. The more you understand about what Etsy is sharing, the more you are prepared for what it is coming. The more prepared you are, the more you can make objective decisions about what makes sense for your business. It takes you from reacting to changes to being proactive about changes.

Let’s break down their recent results.
