It takes a village sometimes to bring your vision to life! So many of us often rely on the help of others in different facets of our business. In this my craft fair display article, we feature Tiffany Ascencio Designs. After her initial craft fair display was destroyed, Tiffany started over and got some creative help to build her next display. Combining Tiffany’s vision with her mom’s creative building skills led to this clever craft fair display. I love seeing teamwork in play, especially when it results in something that looks so wonderful to perfectly showcase her products! I particularly like the pegboard displays for any easy way to display her products. I also like how it can easily fit in her car!

Tell us the story behind how you designed this craft fair display?

My very first display was created using the walls of an old baby crib wrapped in wire with clothespins used to hang the greeting cards. After my first few farmers markets, a truck drove into our market shelter and destroyed it!

At that point, we no longer had to be constrained to a 6ft table and were allocated a full 10x10 area for our tents. My display officially needed a revamp. Enter: my super crafty and handy mom. I had a vision that I wanted people to shop my greeting cards in a vertical display as they would in a store. I pulled several inspiration pics from Pinterest and gave my mom full creative freedom.

All I requested was something simple- pegboard, little shelves, and elastic to hold the cards up. And of course in true mom-fashion, she took those thoughts and inspiration pics and made them even better in real life! I now have custom made display walls that are the perfect height for shopping, hook together with velcro for wind stability, are the exact weight that I can lift and carry one at a time on my own, and of course they fit perfectly into my car.

How did you adapt your design to fit the type of event you were attending?

The biggest thing I look for when adjusting my display at each event is the direction of shopping traffic. I know that my funny birthday cards always draw the most attention. So I always put them directly in the shopper’s line of sight. Since my walls are tall and not see through, it can be hard to tell what is in my booth as you approach. If I know the traffic is coming mainly from one direction, I will place my shorter table displays on that side so shoppers can see both the table offerings as well as the card walls on the other side.

What kinds of materials did you use to create this display?

The display was built using pegboard, wood, and a handy talented mom. We also used velco to hook the displays together.
