Audience and Traffic

Shopify stores are uniquely yours. Just like Nike and Apple have their own websites, your Shopify store is about you and your brand, not about Etsy, Amazon, or eBay. You get to custom design your store, just like your products, and you won’t be competing for attention next to thousands of other sellers. You have more marketing tools for email, social media, social media ads, shipping, and search engine traffic, but you will have to generate traffic yourself if you want sales.

Marketplace websites like Etsy and Amazon are already established, and viewers are comfortable browsing and purchasing new items. The platforms are simple and straightforward, but they place your products next to your competition. Marketplace platforms like Etsy and Amazon also limit you to using their own internal ads. You can’t install tracking pixels on them which means you can’t track your results if you promote your shop on social media sites like Facebook.
