A self-made jewelry designer
Discover the inspiring journey of a self-made jewelry designer who turned creative passion into a thriving business, transforming stormy nights into a unique entrepreneurial adventure.

It all started one dark stormy night in upstate New York. The humidity and temperature battled each other at 95, and the pouring rain and thunder only seemed to egg on the lightning rather than alleviate any of the dripping heat and drooping sanity. In the midst of one of these epic storms, my insomnia rearing its ugly head, the oddest thing popped into my head: Earring designs. I was a 21-year-old bride of two months on summer vacation from school, enjoying time with my grandmother and new husband, but plagued with anxiety and, at the time, designing jewelry was my therapy. I have always been an entrepreneur having started my first business at the age of five by making calendars. So when the idea of making jewelry evolved, I knew I needed to find a way to sell it. I tramped through the very small town to the local boutique to see if she wanted to buy some wholesale.
