Why I Raised My Jewelry Prices

The process of growing my business and deciding when to raise prices

I started dabbling with sewing and beading when I was pregnant with my second son in 2005.  I loved making jewelry for myself, but after I had my son I found I didn’t have much time for creativity and put it aside for a long time. My creativity was reignited in 2011 when I was shopping for jewelry with my husband and he had seen a bead supply catalog and said that I could probably make some of the jewelry I was shopping for. He bought my first round of beads and supplies, so I started making jewelry for myself and family members and then realized that I really enjoyed it! Soon, I was beading a lot more and started playing with wire and incorporating that into my designs. Next, I tried my hand at selling my creations at a local artisan market. That’s when I started to notice that people were resonating with my wire work. With that in mind, I was able to hone my craft and find my style as I continued to sell at local craft fairs, farmers markets, and expand into markets in nearby cities.
