Discover Etsy's 2019 summer marketplace trends: from eco-friendly products and nostalgic designs to stylish storage solutions that are transforming online shopping.

Etsy Reveals its 2019 Summer Marketplace Trends
The summer heat is right around the corner and Etsy has released their marketplace insights for 2019. We’ve selected a few of their most popular trends for the summer season:
Going Green
Conscious consumerism continues to be on the rise. In an August 2018 global Nielsen survey, 81% of respondents said they felt strongly that companies they shop from should help the environment. If you haven’t already, it’s time to shift towards recycled or reusable materials.
A Walk Down Memory Lane
According to Etsy, shoppers are looking back in time for inspiration. Delving into nostalgia, the romantic details of the Victorian area, bohemian looks, and everything from the ‘70s and ‘80s perform particularly well on the shopping platform.
Storage as an Artform
Stylish storage solutions provide the latest trend on social media. Etsy reports a 129% increase in searches for “storage” and a 51% increase in shelving-related searches. “Decor can be repurposed for multiple occasions [...] a key opportunity to help shoppers warm their homes all season long,” says Lindsay O’Brien, Etsy’s Merchandise Specialist.
Offering a Wide Range of Clothing Sizes
With consumers pushing the fashion industry to become more inclusive, offering a wide range of sizes, or even better, custom sizing may help convince shoppers to take a chance purchasing their clothes online. Furthermore, Etsy observed a rise in jumpsuits and gender-neutral clothing.
Jewelry Trends
This summer’s jewelry trends embrace maximalism and creative spirit. The most popular jewelry searches on Etsy include engagement rings, earrings, name necklaces, statement rings, and celestial jewelry. Popular accessory searches include enamel pins, patches, keychains, and flower crowns.
