But why Pinterest and not Facebook?

Click-through rates on Pinterest are higher than on Facebook and Pinterest has a wider organic reach (the number of who people see your pins/boards without you having to pay for it). 

In fact, Facebook is quickly losing popularity and I can imagine that over the next five years or so, their market domination will begin to fade. 

This is why diversifying your social media activities is important.
