I’m sure you’ve heard it too. “If you don’t post every day, your account will be shown less.” “Don’t use too many hashtags, or your account will be shadowbanned.” Or, “If you don’t record Stories, no one will see your posts in their feed.”
I’ve heard these or similar tips by experts so many times that I can recite them in my sleep: there’s a good and a bad time to post, videos get more exposure than photos and business accounts rank higher in the feed.
A lot has been rumored about Instagram’s algorithm, but since June 2018, we actually know how it works. In a private press conference, a group of Instagram staff members explained the details of Instagram’s algorithm and debunked even the most persistent rumors.
